It’s no secret that we live in a fast-paced capitalist society that produces an excess of information, most of it pretty useless, but that still makes us lose a ton of time because we are constantly bombarded with it. This is widely known. The question is, how can we be good readers in this context?

Most people constantly skim through articles, books, and online content, barely grasping the meaning of what they’re reading. I mean, who hasn’t read an entire book only to bring it up at a social event a few days later and come across as a complete buffoon because you can’t even remember the name of the author? Okay, maybe that’s too specific and I’m projecting a little bit, but you get the point; it’s quite common to spend a lot of time reading something only to not remember most of it a few days later.

Anyways, after majoring in a degree that’s essentially just reading comprehension (I majored in Philosophy, it’s not going to get me a job so let me at least brag about it), I think I came to a method of how to be a better reader. Unfortunately, it isn’t very appealing, but really, it’s truthful. It might be something that we all kind of know but would rather not do. It boils down to this: you might have to read it more than once.
