While navigating on the internet I found a video which explained how quitting Instagram would make me happier, then, as I continued my research, I came across tons of videos, posts, etc. Talking about this exact same topic. After watching some of them I had made up my mind, without thinking it twice, I deleted my Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube accounts. This happened about a year ago, and guess what, it hasn’t made me a bit happier.

I’m not saying that there are no benefits to it, of course there are, I could even say that it has made me a little bit more productive and has given me more control over my free time, nevertheless, to argue that just by deleting some accounts you would magically become a happier person, is simply foolish.

To summarize it, if you are looking forward to getting more things done throughout the day and want to gain control over your spare time, I would suggest you go right ahead and delete your social media accounts, but if what you want is to be happier, unfortunately, it takes more than just deleting some app. This of course doesn't apply to people who are actually compulsively checking social media, for those people, of course deleting social media is the way to go.
