Is Veganism Worth the Hype?

Well first of all, what exactly is veganism? And when did it start?
Veganism is the lifestyle in which individuals abstain from using any products derived from animals. This movement has achieved great popularity in recent years, but it’s actually older than you think.
Although the term “vegan” was coined about 70 years ago, veganism is much older, since there is evidence that suggests that people avoided animal products more than 2,000 years ago. Around 500 BC the famous Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras was already talking about love and, therefore, non-violence among the species, and it is thought that he followed a vegetarian diet. Around the same time, Siddhartha Gautama was arguably discussing on following a vegan diet with his disciples. It’s only necessary to study a little bit of Buddhism to find out that it constantly promotes doing the least harm possible to all living things.
But, does veganism really help?
Yes, in addition to promoting love and non-exploitation of animals, a vegan lifestyle has also proven to be the solution for environmental problems such as water scarcity, greenhouse gases, and deforestation.
